Toledo Ohio is a city as well as the county seat of Lucas County, OH. It lies in the Northwest corner of Ohio, at the Western side of Lake Erie bordering the state of Michigan. Toledo was founded by United States citizens in 1833 on the West bank of the Maumee River and was originally incorporated as part of Monroe in County, a Michigan County. It was subsequently re-founded in 1837 after conclusion at the end of the Toledo war at which point it was transferred to become incorporated in the State of Ohio.

At the conclusion of construction of the Miami and Erie Canals, Toledo quickly grew and benefited from its position on the railway lines between New York City and and Chicago. It has since become a city with a thriving art community, healthcare, automobile assembly companies, education, and local sports teams. The city also claims a glass industry has earned it the nickname, "The Glass City".

The population of Toledo as of the 2013 census was 282,313, making it the 71st-largest city in the U.S.. It is the fourth most populous city in Ohio after Columbus, Cleveland and Cincinnati. The Toledo Metro Area had a 2013 population of 649,429, and was the sixth largest metro area in Ohio
